Yukon students spend over half of their day in school, making it an important place to learn about the benefits of physical activity.  Studies show that children who are active at school are more likely to remain active as teens and into adulthood.  We also know that being active benefits their academic, social and emotional selves.

Cycle Smart
Program

Every spring, RPAY takes its Cycle Smart Program throughout the Yukon. Cycle Smart teaches important bicycle safety and maintenance skills through hands-on programs.

"A lot more students have been riding their bikes to school."

"Our Grade 1 student is now riding her bike around Burwash without training wheels!"

Active Playground
Experiences

APE-4

The Active Playground Experiences (APE) program instills values and behaviours for an active healthy lifestyle through peer leadership. This program is run with the classroom teacher and targets Grades 5-6.

"The younger students came to find us at recess when we weren't outside so we would come play with them, it made me realize they like playing with us."

APE
Games and Activities

Add fun, movement and teamwork into activities with children, youth and even adults! Try some of our Active Playground Experiences (APE) games.

“My class had a hard time being successful at cooperative games. APE was a great program to help facilitate and support such things."
