Spring Aquatics Workshop 2024: Faro, YT

When: Tuesday, May 21, 2024 to Friday, May 24, 2024

Where: Faro Recreation Centre and Swimming Pool

Cost:  Registration is FREE
Meals are provided during the workshop

Travel Subsidy:  A travel subsidy is available for attendees who are responsible for / or working in rural community swimming pools that plan to open for the 2024 season.  More information on eligible expenses, which may include accommodation and a mileage subsidy, will be available soon.

Please register by May 15, 2024 if you would like support for travel costs and to confirm funding availability with the Recreation & Parks Association of the Yukon (RPAY).

Who should attend: This workshop is for leaders supporting swimming pool operations in their community.  This includes pool managers; head lifeguards, instructors and coaches; facility operators; maintenance staff; and those that have a lead role in swimming pool operations and programming.

About: RPAY, in partnership with the Yukon Government Sport and Recreation Branch, is excited to announce they are hosting the 2024 workshop in Faro.

Expert presenters will deliver the 'Yukon Pool School' training, which includes the safe operation and maintenance of a swimming pool.  Practice rescue skills, learn how to safely manage groups and review lifeguarding procedures.  Sessions will also focus on programming.

This workshop is an excellent learning opportunity for northerners involved in supporting the delivery of swimming programs in rural communities.
