Rural Healthy Eating Active Living (RHEAL)
Program
The RHEAL Program promotes active recreation for Yukon’s rural and First Nations communities and underserved populations. Local organizations may be eligible to receive support to offer unique recreation activities suited to their community's needs and interests.
Applications are considered when activities meet the RHEAL Program guidelines; are accessible, inclusive, active and offered regularly (at least once per week for two months); are led by a qualified, local leader; ideally, take place outdoors and over the fall/winter; and are not excluded under RPAY's insurance policy.
The RHEAL Program helps make a positive impact in Yukon communities!
Applications are accepted at any time. New RHEAL applicants must be an organization such as a rural recreation department, First Nations government, or a local group with their own insurance.
Applications are only considered during the Review Periods of mid-September, mid-December and mid-April.
All applicants are notified within 4 weeks following a Review Period.
RHEAL Leaders tell us...
Participants have commented on experiencing less pain and more mobility in every day tasks. Have had consistent attendance. Most everyone also stays for coffee afterward adding a deeper social component to the classes.
Thank you so much for providing these opportunities. It makes a great difference having consistent free programs that promote good health and physical wellbeing in our community.
All participant guardians have stated that screen time usage is down as a result of this physically active RHEAL program.
