The Winter Active for Life (WAFL) Program introduces and encourages Yukoners of all ages to be physically active outdoors during the winter.

Borrow equipment for your eligible group from the Equipment Library, introduce Kicksleds into your next special event, or reach out to the WAFL Programmer for ways to help your community embrace winter.

Thanks to the generosity of Lotteries Yukon, RPAY recently updated and refurbished the Equipment Library.

Equipment Library

Through the WAFL Equipment Library, RPAY offers free loans of kicksleds, cross country ski and snowshoe gear to rural and First Nation communities, and to some groups in Whitehorse, for the winter season.

"The ski equipment was so popular this year. As most teachers were using it, and we created a staff schedule to ensure it was not double booked! So great to see how many students benefit from the equipment loan, and getting outside to ski at school!"

Our Kicksleds

Kicksleds are a fun way to enjoy winter. RPAY community/associate members can borrow kicksleds for up to 2 weeks for a community event or program.

"Borrowing the kick sleds allowed youth and adults to try kick sledding for the first time and to build relationships, connection, and a positive, supportive environment while being active outside."

Fran Nyman, RPAY's amazing WAFL Programmer, helps rural and First Nations communities develop their own winter active for life programs.

"I'm not as proficient on skis as I would like but with Fran coming up to assist, I felt more confident in my ability to teach cross country skiing. Having a facilitator come up to the community of Pelly Crossing was excellent support."
